Dr. Madhavan Jagadeesan is an Ophthalmologist, geneticist, molecular biologist and a genetic counselor. After completing his Ophthalmology training from Regional institute of Ophthalmology and Research, he finished his doctoral programme sub-specializing in Genetics and Molecular biology from Vision Research Foundation, Sankara Nethralaya. He finished his fellowship in Ocular genetics from Canada. He headed the Department of Genetics and Molecular Biology at Vision Research Foundation, Sankara Nethralaya before taking the position as the Director of Academics & Research at Vasan Medical Research Trust. He is also an adjunct Professor at SRM University. He has performed various basic research works in single gene, complex degenerative diseases and cancers. His work has been published in various international journals. As a clinician and scientist he is keen to address the challenges faced by physicians and surgeons in dealing genetic diseases.
